Greetings from Guatemala.....today, our last day, was a day of adventure for everyone. All of the students and leaders had cultural experiences as listed this morning., We finished the evening with a pizza and chicken party, group photos, and worship. Sorry, no pics posted today, my gear was packed last night but I will post them when I get home.
Sometime this week, I will edit the photos, some 2000 of them, and prepare a GOCC folder to share. I am thinking at this point that I will get Chris a flash drive with the whole bunch of them and the students and leaders can copy the file at church. I will do my best to get this completed this week.
There was a great joy here this evening that I think sums up the hearts and work of this team. A collection was taken of all the guatemalan currency everyone had in remainder and this money was given to a family from the village we served. They have been at the hotel for the past 24 hours selling some beautiful handicrafts. Everyone, in the spirit of the faith, gave all to these women. I tell you the truth, they were deeply moved by the generosity of strangers.
I know your students are going to have lots of stories to share with you and perhaps a few internal struggles regarding what they have witnesses in the extreme poverty here. I know they will each be greeted by faithful and loving listeners.
I wish you could all be here to witness them in their work and devotion. I am and will continue to be moved by the depth of their love and compassion. It is good to be a part of this community.
